ROTC Cadet William Lamont, a supply chain management major, put his 3D printer to worker during the COVID-19 pandemic making and donating over 300 face shields to first responders and healthcare workers.

Lamont received media attention from across his hometown and college town community but, the recognition didn’t stop there. Last week Cadet Lamont received nationwide attention when his story appeared on the United States Army website and on the Army Twitter for 1.6 million follwers to see.

“Cadet Lamont’s story exemplifies the selflessness of our talented ROTC Cadets. During this time when PPE is in high demand and short supply, his work makes a tremendous difference. We should all aspire to match his ingenuity and can-do attitude. I’m proud of the example Cadet Lamont has set for all of us here in Army ROTC and throughout his community,” said Maj. Gen. John R. Evans, Jr., commanding general, US Army Cadet Command and Fort Knox, Kentucky.
