“What initially drew me to Ship was my ability to commute to and from the school. I also talked to various alumni and heard about their experiences.”
For Peyton Bramble, the rest is history. In fact, history is her major at Shippensburg University. She’s currently a member of the class of 2022 in the History, Public History Concentration, B.A. program. Bramble will also receive a master’s degree from Ship in 2023 thanks to the unique 4+1 program option. She’s also in the Technical/Professional Communications Minor.
“I think that my major is preparing me for success in my future because I plan to go into the museum field and so the various skills and tasks that I’m accomplishing are definitely building and preparing me to go into that field,” Bramble said.
Already equipped with solid skills, Bramble successfully completed an internship with Cumberland County’s Department of Public Safety. There she took on a number of projects such as archiving historical data.
“The most important thing I would tell someone who was interested in my major about the program is that the faculty is amazing,” Bramble said. “They are so willing to work with you and help you get better. They also present you with so many opportunities, from Minds@Work to various internships. It’s also really cool that we have our own museum on campus.”
Outside the classroom, Bramble is a member of the Shippensburg University Red Raider Marching Band and color guard. Additionally, she took on the role of corresponding secretary for Kappa Kappa Psi. She calls joining the band the best decision of her college career, an experience that has sparked lifelong friendships.
“My experience at Ship has been incredibly positive for me. The amount of character I’ve built in my short time here is incredible and I can only imagine how it will be once I graduate. I’m so happy with the person I’m becoming and the career that I’m working so hard toward. And it would never have been possible without Ship.”
