On August 12th, 2020, Dauphin County District Attorney Fran Chardo honored three time Shippensburg University alumna and Deputy District Attorney Erin Varley ’13-’15M with The LeRoy S. Zimmerman Award for Outstanding Service as a Prosecutor.  Varley was congratulated by the award’s namesake, former Dauphin County DA and first elected Attorney General of PA, LeRoy Zimmerman.

Varley was one of four people honored with a law enforcement award who, “exemplify professionalism, dedication and commitment to public safety,” said Chardo. Read more about the law enforcement awards. 

Varley earned dual undergraduate degrees in chemistry and exercise science in 2013, as well as a master of business administration degree in 2015 from Shippensburg University. While at Ship, Varley was a member of the Women’s Basketball team.

Varley then completed her law degree at Dickinson Law where she was named “Law Student of the Year” for the Northeast region by The National Jurist. Varley was one of 20 student lawyers recognized nationally in 2018 and the only law student from Pennsylvania.
