World Mental Health Day, October 10, provides the chance to increase awareness and reduce stigma surrounding mental illness. This year has been difficult for many, and it is important to pay attention to our own mental health as well as support friends and family members who may be struggling.

To destigmatize situational and chronic mental health issues, the use of certain terminology is important. Here’s a flyer that provides stigma-free ways to talk about mental health and encourage people to seek the help that they need.

SEAP can also help you start a conversation and provide you and your family with confidential support 24/7. Call 800.692.7459 (TTY 711) and speak with a specialist.

You can also learn more about mental health topics by visiting the OPTUM website: www.liveandworkwell.com and using “Pennsylvania” as your access code.
