In January 2021, Gretchen Pierce, History, presented “To Defanaticize and Dealcoholize the Population”: The Interrelated Anti-Clerical and Anti-Alcohol Campaigns,” at the American Historical Association Annual Meeting.

In addition, in March 2021, Pierce participated in a round table on teaching food and beverage history at the Rocky Mountain Council on Latin American Studies annual meeting. It was called: “¡Buen Provecho! Bom Apetite! Thematic and Experiential Approaches to Teaching the History of Food and Stimulants.”
